Mole Removal

MolesBumpsLumps

As we age we can develop a range of lumps and bumps on our face and bodies. These should be assessed to ensure there is no underlying medical condition and to ensure that the lesion is not malignant. Lumps and bumps can be removed for aesthetic purposes once they are determined to be benign.

What are the most common type of skin moles?

There are three types of skin moles. Congenital moles are moles you are born with. Common moles appear on the skin after birth. Most people have 10 to 40 of these on their bodies. Atypical moles often have an odd shape, are larger than a pencil eraser, and show more than one color.

What does skin moles look like?

Know what your moles look like. You can spot changes more easily if you know where your moles are and what they look like. Moles should appear symmetrical and round with clearly defined borders. They may be flat or raised but should be smaller than a pencil eraser. Moles should also be the same color throughout.

Who is at risk for getting skin moles?

Everyone is at risk of getting skin tags and other lumps and bumps. They are a natural part of the aging process. Fortunately, they are often easily and painlessly removed. Schedule a consult to assess any lumps and bumps, and recommend the best plan of action.
